BrackholtRoll-On Hire

Questions

What people ask before the skip arrives

Can’t find it here? Ring the yard on 01632 960 418; the person who answers books the lorries.

Booking

How soon can the skip arrive?

Book a 2 to 12 yard skip before 2pm and we drop it the next working day, Monday to Saturday. Roll-on containers need two working days. A skip on the road waits for the council permit, usually three working days.

Do I need to be home for the delivery?

No. Tell us where it goes when you book — a photo helps — and leave the space clear. The driver will ring if anything is in the way.

What does the price include?

Delivery, seven days’ hire, collection, tipping and VAT. Extra weeks are £20 each. The only extras are a road permit if you need one and items like mattresses that cost us more to dispose of.

Can I keep it longer, or swap it for an empty one?

Yes to both. Extend by phone or email any time before collection. A swap (“exchange”) is the skip price again, minus the delivery charge, and happens in one visit.

What can go in

Can I put plasterboard in with everything else?

Not loose. Plasterboard has to be kept apart from other waste. Bag it separately in the skip and we charge £15 a bag to dispose of it correctly.

Why can’t rubble go in the bigger skips?

Weight. A 12 yard skip full of rubble would weigh far more than a skip lorry can lift. Heavy waste goes in 8 yards or smaller, and we price it on the cheaper rubble rate.

What is never allowed?

Asbestos, fridges and freezers, tyres, paint and solvents, gas bottles, TVs, monitors and batteries. Ask us about each of those: most have a proper route, just not a skip.

How full can I fill it?

Level with the top rail, nothing sticking up or over the sides. We have to be able to sheet it for the road, and an overfilled skip cannot legally leave your drive.

Permits

When do I need a permit?

Whenever any part of the skip sits on the public road or pavement. On your own drive or land you do not need one.

Who applies for it?

We do. You tell us the address and where on the road you want it; we apply to the council, pay the fee and pass it on at cost with no mark-up.

How long does a permit last?

Normally fourteen days. If you need longer, we renew it for you before it runs out.

Do road skips need lights?

Yes. Every road skip goes out with reflective markings, four cones and night lamps, which we supply and check. Please don’t move them.

Still stuck on the size?

Send a photo of the job and we’ll size it for you. Free, and usually within the hour.
