Roll-on roll-off containers — “ro-ros” on site — are pulled onto the back of a hook-lift lorry rather than lifted by chains. That lets them be far bigger than a skip: our 20 yard holds roughly two hundred bin bags, the 40 yard twice that.

They are built for volume, not weight. The legal limit on the lorry is the same whatever the container, so a 40 yard is for light, bulky waste: timber, packaging, furniture, fit-out waste. Heavy waste goes in skips of 8 yards or smaller.

Space and ground

A roll-on needs firm, level ground, about 20 metres of straight run for the lorry and container together, and clear height of 7 metres while it tips. It can’t stand on the public road. Send us a photo of the spot and we will tell you if it works.

Most roll-on customers are businesses on a fixed exchange day. We keep your container out as long as you need it and charge by the swap.
